Barrelhouse | 5181 N Glenwood, Garden City

This isn’t just any grilled cheese sandwich, it’s a GROWNUP grilled cheese sandwich. Barrelhouse blends three cheeses and serves theirs on a parmesan crusted sourdough bread. You get the sandwich and fries. They do serve a Tomato Basil Bisque if you’d like to add it to your order.

Wheeler’s Handout | 215 Caldwell Blvd, Nampa

Well, you certainly won’t find a better value grilled cheese in the Treasure Valley than at Wheeler’s Handout. Their sandwich comes a la carte and is $3.50. It’s dressed up with sauce, onion and a pickle.

Reed’s Dairy | Multiple Treasure Valley Locations

You know the sandwich is going to be good when it’s made with the dairy’s own handmade cheese. Reed’s also uses their special butter and bread for their grilled cheese sandwich. They give you the option to add ham for an extra $.50.

The Bowling Alley | 18 W 1st St N, Homedale

We’ve been told The Bowling Alley’s Ultimate grilled cheese is worth the drive to Homedale. It melts American, Swiss and Cheddar together with a fresh tomato slice and bacon. This one is served on sour dough.

Even Stevens | 815 West Bannock, Boise

The Even Stevens grilled cheese sandwich is way different than the ones you’ve scrolled through already! Their JP Grilled Cheese is made with melty white cheddar, poppin’ cream cheese and garlic roasted jalapeños.

Grit2C | 212 S Kimball Ave, Caldwell

Grit2C is another restaurant that’s put an adult spin on a childhood classic. They do one with Bacon Jam, Swiss and cheddar on sourdough. You can make it even fancier by adding bacon or ham.

Bittercreek Ale House | 246 N 8th Street, Boise

Bittercreek is having a banner week, aren’t they? They were given the honor of serving the best burger in Idaho and now, our listeners are RAVING about their Inside & Out Grilled Cheese. They melt together mozzarella and Gruyere inside a bread that’s got a cheesy cheddar crust. You can kick it up with bacon and/or tomato.

Fork | 199 N 8th Street, Boise

You can’t find a much more Idaho grilled cheese sandwich than this one. Fork’s Grown Up Grilled Ham & Cheese sandwich uses Gooding based Ballard Family white cheddar. It’s topped with country ham, caramelized onions, house-made smoked bacon-tomato jam and served on sourdough from Boise based Zeppole’s. You tell us that their tomato-basil soup makes it even better. You can add that and chips for an additional $3.

Brick 29 Bistro | 320 11th Ave S, Nampa

The name of their sandwich just makes us dream of Thanksgiving side dishes. Brick 29 does a Cranberry Grilled Cheese with brie, mozzarella, Swiss fondue, scallions and orange cranberry chutney. Don’t worry, we had to Google chutney too. It’s an Indian sauce.

Roe Ann’s | 929 S Washington Ave, Emmett

Blink and you’ll miss it on this classic drive-in’s menu! It’s on the kids menu, but our adult listeners seconded this choice with a drooling face emoji.

Edge Brewing Company | 205 N 10th St, Boise

Edge may have gotten the most kudos out of all these sandwiches. Their Grown Up Grilled Cheese is smoked gouda, provolone, seasoned cream cheese, tomato, gorgonzola, roasted garlic, avocado and blackwater balsamic jam. Our mouths are watering just thinking about it.

Zeppole Baking Company | Multiple Boise Locations

We guess we should’ve asked which one at Zeppole’s! They have five different grilled cheese sandwiches on their Grilled Cheese bar. We’re intrigued by the Lolo which uses mozzarella, Swiss, cheese, jack cheese, cheddar and a little drizzle of honey.

Soup Kettle Grille | 3675 E Overland Rd, Meridian

Soup Kettle Grille also has multiple grilled cheese sandwiches on their menu! While the Jalapeno and Buffalo sandwiches sound super yummy, we don’t think you’ll find anything like their Reuben Grilled Cheese anywhere else in the Treasure Valley. This one is corned beef, sauerkraut and Russian dressing all melted into one with Swiss.

Great Harvest Bread Company | 5608 W Fairview Ave, Boise

Great Harvest also has so many grilled cheese sandwiches that you’ll have to visit multiple times to pick a favorite. We’ve never heard of adding a Granny Smith apple to a grilled cheese sandwich, but there are apple slices, pepper jelly and bacon on their Grown-Up Grilled Cheese!

Biscuit & Hogs | 2032 E Overland Rd, Meridian

And we couldn’t end the list without our personal favorite. The Graduated Grilled Cheese here is really something else! Its extra sharp aged cheddar, Monterrey jack and Havarti melted together with bacon jam. Try it. You’ll like it. Trust us. (And if you don’t we’ll eat what you don’t finish.)
